About This Product

What Is a Pressure Sand Filter?

A Pressure Sand Filter (PSF) is a closed-vessel filtration unit filled with graded layers of filter media, typically silica sand, anthracite, and gravel support. Raw water or pre-clarified water is pumped through the media bed under pressure, and suspended particles are trapped within the inter-granular spaces as the water passes downward through the filter.

PSFs are the most widely used polishing step in conventional WTPs, placed immediately after the lamella clarifier or primary settling tank. They are also used in ETPs for final polishing before zero-liquid-discharge (ZLD) or effluent reuse systems. When the media becomes loaded, a backwash cycle using reverse water flow restores the filter. RevoNext fabricates PSFs in MS epoxy-lined and FRP construction from our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Belagavi.

Achieves <1 NTU Output Turbidity

Multi-layer sand and anthracite media removes residual suspended solids post-clarification, meeting IS 10500 drinking water standards.

Fully Backwashable - No Media Replacement

Periodic backwash restores filter bed performance. No consumable media replacement needed for years of continuous operation.

Available in MS and FRP Construction

MS epoxy-lined vessels for standard WTP applications; FRP vessels for corrosive or chemical-dosed water streams in ETPs.

Where It Is Used

Applications

WTP Post-Clarification Polishing

Final turbidity removal step after lamella clarifier. Produces <1 NTU water for disinfection and distribution.

RO Pre-Treatment

Protects reverse osmosis membranes from fouling by removing suspended solids and colloidal matter before the RO feed pump.

ETP Tertiary Polishing

Removes residual solids from treated industrial effluent before discharge to drain or reuse in the production process.
