What Is a Clarifier Bridge?
A clarifier bridge (also known as a sludge collector bridge or rake mechanism) is a mechanical drive system mounted across the diameter of a circular sedimentation tank. It rotates a set of scraper blades or rakes along the tank floor, continuously moving settled sludge toward a central collection hopper for removal.
Clarifier bridges are installed in primary and secondary clarifiers across WTPs, STPs, and ETPs. They are essential for maintaining consistent effluent quality - an undesirable sludge blanket build-up can carry over into the treated water and compromise downstream filtration.
